INTERNAL COMPETITION RULES
GENERAL
The challenger shall challenge their opponent(s) by the stipulated ‘arrange by’ date and shall book a rink.
If the opponent is not challenged within the required time scale, then they become the challenger and should offer dates to their opponent. The original challenger will still be required to arrange a marker, if required.
If a player is unable to compete in a drawn pair or drawn triple, they should inform the competition secretary who will endeavour to find a replacement player who has not played previously in the competition that year and is of a similar standard.
All matches MUST be played by the date for the close of the round.
The Competition Secretary’s decision is final in the event of any dispute.
All competitions are played according to E.B.A. rules:
MEN’S and LADIES’ SINGLES
4 woods.
First player to 21 shots.
Challenger to provide the marker.
MEN’S and LADIES’ TWO WOOD SINGLES
2 woods per player.
Play 21 ends.
Challenger to provide the marker.

4 woods per player
Play 21 ends
GEORGE TODD
Mixed singles competition.
Open to any player who has not won a SINGLES competition at Liphook Bowls club, or any other outside bowling club.
3 woods
Play 18 ends
Challenger to provide the marker.
GOLDEN OLDIES: Mick Walker Trophy
Singles mixed competition.
Open to members over 70 on the 21st of April of the current year.
4 woods.
First player to 21 shots.
Challenger to provide the marker.
ROVING JACK
Singles mixed competition. 3 woods per player. Play 21 ends
No marker required.
The jack can be played wherever it comes to rest, as long as:
a) it is at least 23metres from the legally placed mat,
b) is within the sides of the rink and
c) is at least 1 yard from the ditch.
If the jack is delivered into the ditch, the opponent shall place the mat and jack wherever they wish, as long as it meets the criteria stated previously.
The winner of the jack on the first end will deliver the first wood. The winner of the previous end will deliver the first wood in subsequent ends.
If the jack is knocked out of the rink during the course of play, the end shall be replayed with the jack being delivered by the player who originally delivered it on the ‘killed’ end.
BIRTHDAY CUP
Mixed competition.
4 woods
Best of 3 sets: Sets 1 and 2 to be over a maximum of 9 ends each set. The set finishes when one player cannot be caught, even if there are ends remaining.
The player who starts the first end of the first set will bowl second on the first end of the second set.
If the same player wins both sets or wins one set and draws the other, they are the winner.
If it is one set all after two sets, there will be three sudden death ends, with the winner being the player who wins 2 ends. Only the shot wood counts in the sudden death ends.
If a tied end occurs in the sudden death ends, an extra end must be played.
Toss for the jack again for the 3rd set.

SHAVERS
Singles mixed competition. 4 woods per player. Play 21 ends.
All woods within a yard of the jack will count towards a player’s score.
If there are 3 woods within a yard of the jack, the nearest wood scores 3 points, the next scores 2 points and the third scores 1 point.
If there are 8 woods within a yard of the jack, the scoring will start at 8 points for the nearest, down to 1 point for the final wood.
The total points available in any 1 end is a follows:
Woods within a yard of the jack Points:

2. 3

4. 10
5. 15
6. 21
7. 28
8. 36
The total points for both players in any end should add up to the number in the right hand column, depending on the number of woods within a yard of the jack.

DRAWN MIXED TRIPLES
3 woods per player

CLUB TRIPLES RULES IN THE EVENT OF A
PLAYER NOT TURNING UP.
Three Wood Triples
The team that is a player short will bowl 4 woods each.
The team that has a full side will bowl 3 woods each.
The team that has a full side will always deliver the jack and will always have the last wood.
The winner will be the team with the greater number of shots at the end of the game.
Two Wood Triples
A team that is not complete must concede the game to their opponents.
It is the responsibility of the skip to ensure that the team knows about the match.
The Competition Secretary may find a substitute player in the event of illness and sufficient notice.
