Each year on the third Sunday in July we host the Liphook Open Triples.
For those new to lawn bowls an Open Triples competition is a kind of 5 a side football tournament for lawn bowls! Each triple plays in a round robin within the group they are drawn in. Following that the group winners and runners up progress into the semi finals. Our 2024 Open Triples was a massive success with 12 teams entering and Westfield Bowls Club carrying off the trophy and cash prize. |
To play in the Open Triples you pay £12 per player and that includes a delicious lunch and dessert.
The bar is open all day and we have a tombola and auction to raise funds for the club.
We would love to see you for our Open Triples and if you would like to enter a team please

This years competition saw teams participating throughout Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey. We had 12 teams entered and split across two groups of 6 with some quality triples making it into this years semi finals. Our last four this year included semi finalist Priory Bowls Club, Denmead, Westfield and Waterlooville.
The semi finals were both exciting affairs with Priory looking like they were going to make the final before Denmead pulled off an outstanding 5. Whilst the other semi was neck and neck until Waterlooville gave away a 4.
The calibre of bowling this year was outstanding and the triple from Westfield Bowls Club near Woking were worthy winners. In a monumental battle Westfield defeated Denmead in a nerve tingling last end which they won 5-4.

As a triple dropped out very close to the weekend Liphook entered a scratch team off the subs bench!
The Liphook team were made up of two 2 year bowlers in Gareth Rees and Hilary Copp and skip’d by the drawing king, 83 year old Mr Colin Brodrick.
The Liphook Open Triples is a fun day and we would love to see you play or support our Open Triples in 2025.
